UTC Engineering building remains closed by chemical spill in a lab

Chattanooga (WDEF) – A classroom spill has turned into quite a headache for UTC on Thursday afternoon.

A quart of Pyridine spilled in the lab, exposing two students.

They were treated at the scene and did not want to be checked out at the hospital.

Meanwhile, the building was shut down while fire crews vented it.

UTC isn’t sure how to clean up the mess, so they are sealing it off and waiting for a contractor to arrive to advise them.

Until then, the building remains closed and classes are suspended.

They hope to reopen sometime between three and four PM.
