Looking Ahead to February 17, 2016
The jury handling the murder trial for the foster mother of a two-year old girl who died in her care continues deliberations this morning in Catoosa County. Clara Edwards was caring for Saharah Witherspoon and her brother in December of 2013. Saharah died of head injuries at T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital the following month. Edwards claimed Saharah’s injuries came from a fall down the stairs. Jurors deliberated for about four-hours Tuesday.
Cleveland School Board members hold a special called meeting this afternoon to get an update on the new Raider Arena. The sports hub replaces the old dome at Cleveland High School. It was supposed to be finished this month, but may not be done until March. A ribbon cutting has been set for April 5th.
A resolution directing Tennessee’s attorney general to mount a legal challenge to the federal refugee resettlement program heads for a vote in the state Senate. The Senate Finance Committee voted 9-1 to advance the measure.
