McConathy Family Asks that their Son’s Shooter be Investigated

McCracken Poston, the McConathy’s attorney, says, "There needs to be an independent and parallel investigation, an analysis of the shooter’s actions."

On November 11th, McConathy and two other teenagers were on Fred Youngblood’s property, possibly looking for items to scrap.

Youngblood says he felt threatened, so he shot McConathy.

The teenagers were charged, however, Youngblood was not.

That’s why McConathy’s family is reaching out.

They want the district attorney to bring in an outside prosecutor to review the case and present it to the grand jury.

Poston adds, "We found three other people that this shooter has brandished a weapon and threatened to shoot one of them just for trespassing on the property".

Poston also says there is other evidence that proves the shooting was unjustified.

"We’ve got a shooter who is saying, oh he [McConathy] was coming at me.  Why would anybody go at a man holding a gun? says Poston.

And further evidence, according to Poston, shows that Youngblood was on his deck, high above McConathy when he pulled the trigger.

Poston adds, "We’ve got information that Dalton McConathy was saying, we’re leaving, don’t shoot when he was shot."

District Attorney Buzz Franklin tells us he still needs to receive certain documents from the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office before he decides how to proceed with the case.

Poston adds, "This is nothing that can be swept under the rug."

But, again, Franklin does confirm that the investigation into Youngblood continues.

He still plans on sitting down with the primary officers in this case to further review the facts.
