Shooting death of 3-year-old found to be accidental

Hamilton County, TN (WDEF) – The Hamilton County Medical Examiner’s Office found the shooting death of a 3-year-old Monday to be accidental.

The child has now been identified as Gavin Pittman.

Officials say the boy died from a “gunshot wound of the head.”

The Medical Examiner’s Office reports that the boy “shot himself while playing with gun.”

The Sheriff’s Office is continuing their investigation and will give the District Attorney’s Office their findings for review.
