Butch Jones Hopes Grit Defines Vols This Spring
If Vols head coach Butch Jones had his way, he’d love to see a street named ‘Grit’ near Neyland stadium.
Jones wants to see some grit out of his team as they started up spring practice on Monday.
Said Jones-“You know we’re studying the word grit, and what grit means. It’s the tendency to stay focused on long term goals and never be distracted. In the last 18 games, we’re 13-5 as a football program. Those five losses have come from a combined total of 25 points. So we’re searching for those 25 points in everything that we do.”
The Vols will need some grit out of their defensive linemen. Jones announced that five defensive linemen will miss spring practice due to injury, including Dereck Barnett, who is recovering from a shoulder injury.
