Highway 58 Business causes Controversy

A business on highway 58 causes a lot of controversy.

The Love Shack opened last summer.

Several residents complained to Chattanooga City councilman Ken Smith, who represents the area.

The store is near a church and several homes.

It sells a variety of adult-oriented items as well as novelties and DVDs.

Smith said he sent code inspectors to the Love Shack to see if they were in any violation.

“After pulling state law, reviewing that, interpreting it, what it does it determines a certain percentage of the business has to be adult oriented products in order to be considered an adult oriented store. So we’re still look at it. We’re not done yet, but so far preliminary it looks like they are within right to be there.

Love Shack employees say they are not in violation of any ordinance.
