Bradley Central Girls Beat Dickson 57-54 to Open State Tournament

Murfreesboro, TN-(WDEF) The Bradely Central girls basketball team held off Dickson Co 57-54 in the state quarterfinals on Wednesday in Murfreesboro.
The Bearettes outscored the Cougars 11-0 in the second quarter to go up 14 at the break. Dickson Co’s Lea Lea Carter, who is a McDonald’s All-American, spent much of the first half on the bench in foul trouble. The Cougars fought back to tie the game in the fourth quarter on a bucket by Carter. The Vanderbilt signee finished with nine points.
With Bradley Central clinging to a two-point lead with 3:30 to play, Emma Brown hit a clutch three-pointer to put Bradley Central up 54-49. Brown scored a game high 16-points, including 3 of 4 shooting behind the arc.
In the final 30-seconds, with the Bearettes up three, Rhyne Howard blocked a potential game tying three point shot. Howard finished with 13 points and ten rebounds.
The Cougars had a couple of more opportunities to tie the game in the final seconds, but they could not convert.
Bradley Central shot 50-percent for the game, including 7 of 12 behind the arc.
The Bearettes will now meet Oak Ridge in the semifinals on Friday at 11am est in Murfreesboro.
