What’s Trending? A new Batman movie, Gary Shandling, & Paul the Pirate

A North Carolina man says he was arrested for failing to return a VHS tape that he rented in 2002. James Meyers says he was driving his daughter to school when a police officer pulled him over for a defective tail light. He says the officer told him there was a warrant out for his arrest, because Meyers had rented the movie “Freddy Got Fingered” starring Tom Green and never returned it. Meyers was booked on a charge of failure to return rental property.

The star of “The Larry Sanders show” has died. Police say comedian Gary Shandling had a medical emergency at his home and was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Shandling was a standup comic before launching his show in which he played a late night TV host. He was 66 years old.

Mets center fielder Yoenis Cespedes gets the blame for one of the strangest inside the park home runs you’ll ever see. Astros prospect A.J. Reed hit a ball to the wall during a Spring Training game. Thinking it was under the wall, Cespedes threw his hands up to stop play. That only works if the ball is obstructed by ivy or if the ball is hidden. The ball clearly wasn’t hidden and remained in play. Reed came all the way around to score as the Astros beat the Mets 8-5.

Get ready for another Batman movie. Will Arnett will reprise his role as Batman in “The Lego Batman Movie.” Warner Brothers released a teaser for the film ahead of “Batman versus Superman.” The film will also feature Michael Cera as Robin and Rosario Dawson as Batgirl. “The LEGO Batman Movie” arrives in theaters February 10, 2017.

Paul McCartney gets to play with the pirates. The Hollywood Reporter reports McCartney will have a cameo in the next installment of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” films. The movie had already wrapped up production, but the directors plan to tack on an extra scene featuring McCartney. The nature of his role was not given. “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” hit theaters Summer 2017.
