Volkswagen Issue Recall on Passat, Other Vehicles Over Fire Fear
Volkswagen has temporarily halted sales of about 25,000 cars in the US because of a fire risk.
The affected vehicles include the current model of the Chattanooga made Passat, the Jetta, Beetle, and Beetle Convertible.
All are equipped with a one-point-eight liter engine and automatic transmission.
Volkswagen says a faulty o-ring can cause transmission fluid to leak – and could start a fire.
The automaker says no fires or crashes have been reported.
Owners of affected vehicles will be notified soon, and Volkswagen will replace the part for free.
