Corrections deputy arrested after domestic dispute

MACON, Ga. (AP) – Authorities say a corrections deputy in central Georgia has been arrested after a domestic dispute.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office tells local news media in a news release that 44-year-old Tavy Knowlton Sr. has been charged with aggravated assault – family violence. Knowlton was arrested Friday.

Knowlton has been place on administrative leave.

Authorities say Knowlton and his spouse had been arguing at their home and he retrieved a pistol from his bedroom and began waving it around. Knowlton left the home before deputies arrived, but they eventually made contact with him and arrested him.

Knowlton is being held at the Bibb County Jail with no bond.

Internal affairs are investigating the incident.
