Threat To “Shoot Up School” Found Inside Bradley Central High Bathroom
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Bradley County Sheriff’s office confirms to News 12 a threat was found inside a Bradley Central High School bathroom.
According to parents who have students in the school district, the threat was to do harm to students on Friday, reportedly “shoot up the school.”
Bradley County Sheriff Eric Watson says that they do not find the threat credible. As of 8:51 p.m. on Thursday, school was in session for Friday.
“The Sheriff’s Office takes children’s safety very seriously,” the Sheriff said in a release. “As a matter of precaution, Chief Deputy Brian Smith and I, in addition to extra law enforcement personnel, will be assigned to Bradley Central High School. Parents should be assured this office will be pro-active in dealing with any threats received at any school.”
The Sheriff says they were not able to find who wrote the threat.
Several district parents say they were not notified about the threat.
“My son told me about the threat on Wednesday,” said mother Tracy Ross. “One of my son’s teachers even asked the class about the rumor…I have a big issue with that and will be calling the school tomorrow.”
Another mother, Tiffany Hutson, said she is not sending her child to school.
“We should have been told about this sooner.”.
The district could not be reached for comment late-Thursday evening.
A slew of threats have been hitting the area lately, most notably at Ooltewah after scandals plagued that district.
