Lookouts Fall 4-3 to Jackson in Home Debut
The Chattanooga Lookouts (1-5) came just short of ending their home opener on a high note, falling to the Jackson Generals (4-1), on 4-3 Tuesday Night at AT&T Field.
After a ceremony to recognize last season’s Southern League Championship, SLCS MVP Jason Wheeler took to the mound to start the home season for Chattanooga. Wheeler cruised through the first three innings allowing just two hits and striking out two. His only blemish on the night was a three-run fourth, though none of the runs ended up being earned in the box score. Wheeler’s night ended after six innings pitched with no earned runs, three strikeouts and just five hits.
Before Wheeler left the game the Lookouts were able to tie the game up at three in the in the bottom of the fifth. In that frame Zack Granite led off with a double. The speedy outfielder ended up scoring the tying run on a Travis Harrison RBI single.
With the game tied at three the momentum shifted in the Generals’ favor when Leon Landry belted a single to score Benji Gonzalez. Jackson kept their slim lead intact for the rest of the game handing the Lookouts their first home loss of the season.
