Humane Educational Society Offers Reward For Information Involving Animal Abuse Incident
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- A 5-month-old red Doberman lab mix was dumped on the side of the road a few days ago.
The Humane Educational Society say they’re offering a $500 reward for tips leading to the individual that did it.
The video came from a neighbor who caught it all on tape.
She says the same thing happened again with another dog, just a week ago.
The Humane Educational Society Executive Director says animal abuse is becoming too common.
“It really brings to light just how heartbreaking it really is to be able to see someone pull up in the car; open the door; basically toss the dog out onto the road and then speed away,” said Bob Citrullo.
The video (attached to the story) was taken by a homeowner on Hidden Branch Road in Chattanooga.
Citrullo says a dark colored Honda CRV stopped for a moment, before throwing the dog out of the vehicle.
“What did we see in the video, but the actual dog chasing behind the car saying, ‘hey, why are you doing this? Why are you leaving me behind?” said Citrullo
Citrullo says the shelter saw a 25% increase in animal abuse cases in 20-16.
A budget increase a few years ago, helped with combating these cases.
Many included cats and dogs, who had no access to proper shelter, food or basic healthcare.
He says recently, more have been killed by vehicles than before.
Citrullo says the puppy is fine and healthy.
It’s anticipated he may be available for adoption in a few weeks and if you have any tips on this incident, you’re encouraged to call the Humane Educational Society.
