“Save a Life Tour” Stops by Dade County High School
Texting while driving and drinking while driving often leads to serious accidents and sometimes deaths.
That’s why Dade County High School is educating their students to make the right decision before the sit behind the wheel.
“The Save a Life Tour” stopped by the school Tuesday to show students the dangers that can come on the roadway.
Students were given the chance to use simulators that allowed them to experience how someone drives while they are impaired and how you drive while you’re texting.
The Dade County Sheriff’s Department sponsored the event.
Dade County Sheriff Ray Cross said it’s extremely important the students know the consequences that could potentially happen.
“We want to stress to the students how important it is to be safe when they’re driving. We’re hoping the students will get the knowledge about how dangerous it is to text and drive or you know, just being distracted when you’re driving. Especially the dangers of drinking and driving. We hope that never happens.”
At the end of the program students were asked to sign a pledge that they wouldn’t drive impaired or text while driving.
