Morning Round-up: Hamilton Co. Schools Interim Superintendent Interviews and CFD “Fill the Boot” Fundraiser
The Hamilton County Board of Education will meet today in a Special Called Session for the Interview and Selection process of Interim Superintendent.
Last week, Jill Levine, Shaun Sadler and current Interim Superintendent Dr. Kirk Kelly were chosen to come in for interviews.
They each get 15 minutes to sell themselves, with a decision expected to be made fairly soon after on who to hire.
That meeting happens at 3PM.
The Tennessee General Assembly has passed a law that would allow teachers and other employees with handgun carry permits to be armed on the campuses of the state’s public colleges and universities.
The bill passed the House 69-24 Wednesday.
Republican Gov. Bill Haslam has raised concerns about the measure because it didn’t give the institutions the power to opt out.
The bill allows faculty and staff to carry a concealed handgun on campus if the employee has a valid handgun carry permit.
Chattanooga firefighters will kick-off their “Fill the Boot” fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association today.
The firefighters will be collecting donations from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. through Saturday, April 23rd.
They say this year’s goal is to raise 100,000 dollars.
