Lookouts Stay Red Hot Edging Smokies 6-5 in 14 Innings
(lookouts.com) CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) — Jonathan Rodriguez hit a walk-off single with two outs in the 14th inning, as the Chattanooga Lookouts defeated the Tennessee Smokies 6-5 on Tuesday.
Nick Gordon scored the game-winning run after he hit a single with two outs, stole second and then went to third on a walk by LaMonte Wade.
Chattanooga has now won 20 of their last 22 games.
Jason Vosler hit an RBI single, bringing home Carlos Penalver in the first inning to give the Smokies a 1-0 lead. The Lookouts came back to take a 3-1 lead in the fourth inning when Rodriguez hit a two-run home run.
Tennessee tied the game 5-5 in the eighth when Yasiel Balaguert hit an RBI double, scoring Vosler.
Rodriguez was a triple short of the cycle, driving home three runs and scoring a couple in the win.
Luke Bard (4-1) got the win with two innings of scoreless relief while Dillon Maples (1-1) took the loss in the Southern League game.
