Sen. Bob Corker was just a side show at Trump Rally in Raleigh

RALEIGH, N.C. (WDEF) – Senator Bob Corker got to see a Trump rally first hand on Tuesday, but you won’t see much of him in the news coverage.

The candidate did introduce the Chattanoogan to the crowd to talk about party unity.

Donald Trump told the crowd that “we need real unity” in the Republican Party.

“We have some great people like Bob [Corker] who just came up and so many others and so many senators, congressmen and women.”

Sen. Corker briefly spoke, “The reason you love him so much is because he loves you.”

But he tells Roll Call that he wasn’t originally planning on saying anything.

He just came to visit.

But seeing a Trump Rally from the stage, the Senator joked that he the rallies he sees back home aren’t generally like this.

Senator Corker spent the day meeting the candidates family and campaign team.

He has downplayed his potential as a running mate for Trump.

But NBC and the Washington Post are now calling him a finalist for the vice presidential nod.

Sen. Corker is being vetted for the job.

Just as the process began, a story was leaked to the Wall Street Journal about his financial investments in CBL and Associates in Chattanooga and questioning some of their accounting practices.

Trump should name his vice presidential nominee in the next couple of weeks.
