CFC Falls to Nashville in Opening Round of the NPSL Playoffs
Chattanooga-(WDEF) The CFC saw their season come to an end on Tuesday as they lost to Inter Nashville FC 2-1 in the opening round of the NPSL playoffs
at Finley Stadium.
The match was scoreless in stoppage time in the first half when Chattanooga scored. The Nashville goalie was called for a penalty
after colliding with the CFC’s Felipe Antonio.
Leo DeSmedt took the short penalty kick, and he put it high into the back of the goal to make it 1-0 at halftime.
But Nashville answered with two goals in the second half to pull out the win.
On the first one, CFC goalie Paulo Pita came out to try and cut the shot off, and he was unable to do it.
It was that first goal that bothered CFC head coach Bill Elliott.
Said Elliott:”Their first goal was a mistake we shouldn’t have made. And when you give a mature resilient team like Nashville a life-line, they’re going to take advantage of it. It gave them energy, and it gave them life, and it zapped the wind out of our sails.”
