Hundreds of soldiers returning to Fort Campbell from Afghanistan
FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (AP) – Hundreds of soldiers are returning to Fort Campbell after a 9 month deployment in Afghanistan.
Fort Campbell says about 300 soldiers are returning Thursday to the post that sits on the Kentucky-Tennessee line. The returning soldiers are part of the 3rd Brigade Combat Team “Rakkasans,” 101st Airborne Division.
While in Afghanistan, the soldiers focused on training, advising and assisting an effort to build the capacity of Afghanistan’s army and police forces and to strengthen its national security and defense.
A welcome home ceremony is planned when the soldiers arrive.

So this past weekend my gf @rozzienecole and I were touring around post, minding our own, when just by CHANCE we were able to welcome home some of the soldiers from 3RD BDE. — I’m was just like most of y’all, and have only welcomed home soldiers from the videos I see in the media and on social media. But seeing it in person?? 😩😩 on some real y’all…. this moment really hit home hard…. 😥💔 NOT ONLY do My husband @mbradshaw_sr and I serve, but as do some of my family members and close friends. I was sent overseas my first tour, but I was stationed in Korea. — This was different for me….. this was the first time I got to welcome home soldiers…. as one of them…..as one of their sisters-in-arms. I’m Not a front line soldier no, but it still got me, affected me…. Bc soon? It will be my turn. Soon? It will be my Husbands turn. Risks as still there. S*** is hard to go through y’all. — From what I was hearing these soldiers were over in Afghanistan for 9 months, and not everyone made it home….💔😥🎗 – SO – whether you agree with what’s going on in the world, or you don’t, that’s your choice…. that’s your FREEDOM. Not everyone is FREE and has the LIBERTIES that we do and some of us take for granted. 🎗 BUT Please, take a second and remember that. Remember that our FREEDOM, comes at a price and a sacrifice. You may not always see it, but every soldier sacrifices something…….. Welcome home “BONECRUSHERS”, welcome home. May you all return home safely. My prayers to each and every family member and soldier out there. 🙌🏽 From one soldier to another, thank you.
