GSP investigating deadly crash in Whitfield Co. early Monday morning

WHITFIELD COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF) – The Georgia State Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that happened early Monday morning on Haig Mill Road.

GSP received the call at 6:35 a.m. and responded to the scene at 1300 Haigmill Road.

Authorities believe that the crash happened around 2:00 a.m. Monday.

The initial investigation concluded that a 2003 Honda Civic driven by a 36-year old male left the roadway in a curve and struck a tree head-on.

The driver was pronounced dead on arrival.

Authorities believe the driver was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.

Alcohol or drug use is not believed to have contributed to the accident.

The victim’s name has not been released as authorities work to notify family members.
