Nick Saban Draws a Crowd at SEC Media Days
You can tell Bama coach Nick Saban is the star of SEC media days.
He arrived this morning with a police escort.
Alabama will once again be one of the heavy favorites to win the conference championship this season.
Nobody draws a crowd at SEC media days in Hoover, Alabama, like Nick Saban.
You get that attention winning four national titles in seven years.
Said defensive lineman Jonathan Allen-“I know a lot of guys from a whole bunch of other teams. I just feel like we work a lot harder. That’s not to bash them, but I feel like we work so hard. It’s indicative of the success we have had.”
Finding team leaders is also part of Saban’s success.
Said Saban-“I think sometimes leadership comes from being somebody that somebody can emulate. Setting a good example. Caring enough about one person. That grows.”
For the third straight year, Alabama enters fall camp looking for a starting quarterback.
Said tight end O.J. Howard-“Each year the past few seasons, we’ve had a new quarterback. We’re in the same shoes again. We’ve been fine those years, so I think we’ll be fine again this year.”
Added Allen-“Coach Kiffin. I know he has something up his sleeve.”
Will Jeremy Pruitt have something up his sleeve as Bama’s new defensive coordinator? He replaces long-time coordinator Kirby Smart.
Said safety Eddie Jackson-“We love Coach Pruitt a lot. He’s one of those guys who is going to get on top of you. If you’re doing something wrong, he’s not going to kiss your butt. He’s going to let you know. He also lets you know when you’re doing good, and the things you can fix to become better.”
Said Allen-“Personality wise, Coach Kirby might be a little more outgoing. But they still do a great job of getting their message to us. I don’t feel there’s going to be any drop-off in intensity from a defensive standpoint this year.”
