Mocs Grab ITA Team Academic Honors
(GOMOCS.com) The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women’s tennis team earned the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s (ITA) Team Academic Award, the organization recently announced. The Mocs are honored for the sixth year in a row and the 10th time in program history.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above. All letter winners are factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.
It is also the second year in a row five Mocs have earned ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition. This year’s honorees include Mckenzie Barco, Samantha Caswell, Sydney Patton, Katie Polk and Alison Storie. Storie is just the second at UTC to win the honor all four years of her career. It is the second recognition for Polk.
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria:
1.) be a varsity letter winner
2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 for the current academic year
3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters.
