Police chase on I 75

UPDATE FROM 1PM PRESS CONFERENCE:

— Suspect still at large. Hunt has pulled back to a “rolling search” around Ooltewah. If you are in the area “Go about your daily life.. just be aware.”

— It started when 2 investigators approached a home on Watts Avenue near Airport road to talk to someone. Another party fled from the house & jumped into car, knocked down a fence, dragging it behind and slamming it into other vehicles.

— 3 officers fired shots at the fleeing car at different points

— 1 officer injured during chase when 18 wheeler rear-ended patrol car. Being treated at hospital, but injury non-life-threatening

— Police think they know who they are chasing

— Suspect did not fire at police (as far as they know now)

UPDATE FROM CHATTANOOGA POLICE:

The Chattanooga Police Department is on an active incident on I75 north and south bound. Details are limited at this time.

Expect delays on I75 NB and SB. Old Lee Hwy is currently shutdown at the 8800 block.

The suspect is currently on foot and is considered dangerous.

Suspect: White Male, unshaven, white T-shirt and blue jeans. Tattoos on both arms. Last seen traveling in foot.

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Chattanooga police are looking for a suspect near the Hamilton Place exit of I 75 after a chase that wrecked vehicles and caused shots to be fired.

There is a wreck on the Franks Road Bridge with reported injuries.

Police say it was caused by the chase and involved a Chattanooga officer.

The suspect ditched his car at the Ooltewah exit

Officers are searching for him on foot around the Cracker Barrel.

They also have shutdown some of the southbound traffic on the interstate while they search.
