Oil spill on Cumberland River in Downtown Nashville
NASHVILLE (WDEF) – Fire officials are trying to trace the source of a large petroleum spill floating through the tourist section of downtown Nashville.
WTVF TV in Nashville reports that a large portion of the Cumberland River along Riverfront Park is streaked with the rainbow colored liquid.
The spill stretches from Nissan Stadium to the Korean Veterans Bridge.
Fire officials are requesting containment booms from the U.S. Coast Guard to contain it.
And the River could be shutdown if necessary to deploy them.
WTVF reports the source of the spill seems to be several miles upstream.
