Moccasin Bend escapee captured

37 year old, Robert Harris who was in Moccasin Bend for evaluation from the Hamblen County Sheriff’s Office escaped on Sunday.

Police were able to track him down this morning and capture him near Signal Mountain Road.

Police believe they have a good idea how he made his escape.

“We where fairly certain that he made it into the river or at least along the river and i can only deduce that at some point he came up off of the river just down the road here.”

Police put an end to Harris’ escape attempt this morning after receiving reports of a man matching his description near Signal Mountain road.

“As we came down in this area someone came up to us and said they just saw him coming walking down the track near the Baylor school property and he went into the woods.”

Officer O’Brian and his partner Anik went down the tracks and into the wooded area after Harris where they found him hiding above them on a rock ledge.

“Anik was able to smell him and race straight up and wedge between 2 rocks and actually apprehended him before he could get away.”

Harris was bitten during the capture and had to be evaluated by medics before being transported to the Hamilton county jail to be booked.

At last update, Hamblen County Sheriff’s deputies were on the way hoping to take him back to Hamblen county.
