Minority Health Fair in Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Every year, local African American fraternities team up with area healthcare providers to host a minority health fair.

Thousand of people packed into the Eastgate Town Center Saturday morning to take part in the 14th annual minority health fair.

The fair allows people to undergo medical screenings, talk to healthcare providers about certain issues. and even see doctors.

“We believe this event is helping this community be a healthy community which helps with education and workforce development. We’re just so proud to be part of that initiative and making the city a better place to live,” says Erskine Oglesby, the event organizer.

Leroy Norwood is a resident of Chattanooga who attended the health fair today. He said, “I think it’s very important for us as African Americans to come out and get our blood pressure checked and cholesterol and see what foods to stay away from.”

Many of the people who underwent certain screening got their result back in the same day.
