New VFW building opens on Amnicola

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Out with the old and in with the new! That was the feeling for many who attended the grand opening ceremony of the new VFW building in Chattanooga.

The new post is located on Amnicola Highway, just a few miles from the old building that is now closed.

Dozens of war veterans and their families from Chattanooga and beyond attended the ceremony.

Local and state politicians who have always been very vocal about veteran affairs also attended. Representative Chuck Fleishmann (R) of Tennessee’s 3rd District was one of those.

“We can never forget those who were prisoners. We can never forget those who are missing in action. Think about that. They went off to fight and their families never heard from them again. We don’t know where they rest. we don’t know where they are, but we know god loves them because they were fighting for the greatest nation in the world. God bless them all,” said Representative Fleishmann

Instead of a ribbon cutting ceremony, they welcomed the new building with a flag presentation.
