World Hunger Month

Millions of people across the country wore orange Thursday for Hunger Action Day.
All month long people can help bring awareness to hunger happening in our community.
Hunger Action Month is part of the Feeding America nationwide network of food banks.
The campaign asks people to consider how it must feel to live with an empty stomach.
Volunteers gathered at the Chattanooga Area Food Bank to help sort food and package boxes to send to people in need.

President and CEO Gina Crumbliss said the food bank is always in need of assistance.
“There’s always a need. Especially coming off of September or in summer…there is, people just don’t think about giving food or money to cover the need here and we happen to know there’s a 9.8 million meal gap here in our 20 county region.”
