East Ridge ROTC Pays Tribute to 9/11 Victims (VIDEO)

EAST RIDGE, Tenn. (WDEF) — East Ridge High School’s Junior ROTC students are honoring September 11 victims.

On Sunday afternoon, the group started marching in front of the high school, and continued down Tombras Avenue while carrying the American flag.

These young men say the events of September 11 still mean a lot to them, even if they were little at the time, or not even born yet.

“People do care, even so far away from where it happened,” said Steven Davoren, East Ridge JROTC. “People do care about other people, and a lot of people were hurt by that, even people who had no direct contact with it. People got scared.”

“It really affected a lot of Americans,” said Nermin Pehlic, East Ridge JROTC. “It really was a national disaster, but I’d say we got a lot stronger in our security, and a lot more patriotism has started from it.”

Some of the students tell News 12 9/11 has even inspired them to join the military.
