Ridgeland Softball Beats Heritage 6-2 in Generals First Game Since Death of Coaches Daughter

Rossville, GA-(WDEF) The Heritage softball team played their first game on Wednesday following the tragic death of the daughter of head coach Jason Carter.
Katie Beth Carter was killed in a car crash on Labor Day on her way back to college at Jacksonville State.
The Heritage team wore a helmet sticker, jersey decal, and an arm band with Katie Beth Carter’s initials.
Ridgeland wound up winning the contest 6-2. With the Panthers leading 3-0 in the fifth, Allison Wallin drove in a run to make it 4-0.
Then in the sixth inning, the Panthers Ciera Foster hit one in the gap in left center to score two more runs.
Heritage added two runs in the seventh to make the final score 6-2.
Touching scene after the game as the Ridgeland coaches hugged Jason Carter and handed him a check, which went to the fund set up in the memory of Katie Beth Carter.
