Church Donates Cars to Louisiana Flooding Victims

RINGGOLD, Ga. (WDEF) — One North Georgia church is helping victims of the recent flooding in southern Louisiana.

On Sunday morning, Origin Church in Ringgold gave the Vickery family three cars and other necessities, after they lost both their home and three vehicles in the August flooding.

The Vickerys – who live in Livingston, Louisiana – say the flood was unexpected and devastating.

Church members say they’re just glad they could help the family get through a difficult time.

“You reap what you sow, and so for us as a small church, seven years old, it’s a big day to show people what it means to be generous, and generosity comes back,” said Pastor Shane Craven, Origin Church.

“There’s no words to be given of what Pastor Shane and this church has done, and how they’ve networked together,” said Todd Vickery, a flooding victim and pastor. “They’re doing what God’s called them to do, and that’s bringing the churches together. It doesn’t matter who they are, where they’re from, but they’ve come together to do this for us. We feel overwhelmed. Thank you’s not enough.”

Vickery says he and his family are now staying in a camper.

They hope to either remodel their mobile home, or build a new one.
