Mocs RB Tyrell Price: “Testament to What’s Good About College Football”
Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) Mocs running back Alym Ford has been a monster for UTC this year. Throw in veteran Tyrell Price, and now the Mocs have a two-headed monster in the backfield. Price has become a dynamic play-maker, who can also get those gritty, gridiron yards.
Said head coach Rusty Wright:”He’s a testament to what’s good about college football.”
Hard to find a better compliment from a head coach, but Rusty Wright says it’s been fantastic coaching Tyrell Price.
Said Wright:”He’s in great shape. He works his tail off every day. He has a smile on his face. I wish I had a hundred of them. That young man
is going to go a long way in life. I mean he really is.”
Said defensive back Jerrell Lawson:”Since day one he has been putting in the work. He’s a guy that I could definitely vouch for at anytime. One of the hardest working people on our team. One of the most humble people.”
Price and Alym Ford give UTC a big one-two punch in the backfield.
Price has run for almost 600 yards this season, averaging almost seven yards a carry.
Reporter:”Has it been fun this year for you?”
Said Price:”Yes sir it has been fun. It has been very fun honestly. Being with this team last year. I’m trying to bring a little excitement to everybody. Trying to take in the moment of it.”
Reporter:”How do you bring excitement to the team?”
Said Price:”Talk. Communicate. Uplift everybody. Try to keep a smile on everybody’s face. We mess up one play. Tell them to flush that and go on to the next play. Just try to keep everybody excited.”
Price is a professional college football player.
He started playing juco ball in 20
16.
Said Lawson:”Man we’re getting old. (chuckles) We’re getting old around here.”
Said Price:”Yeah I mean just a journey to be honest with you. Just a journey.”
Said Wright:”That’s about how he’s practicing. He’s practicing like a pro. I think he’s enjoying playing football. He has embraced his role whatever it is. Whatever we ask him to do. His has changed every Saturday this year. But that’s the thing, he knows it’s probably his last go round playing college football or playing football period. He has enjoyed every minute of it this year I think.”
