Man, girl seriously injured in single-engine plane crash

STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. (AP) – Police say two people were seriously injured after a single-engine plane crashed in suburban Atlanta.

Henry County Police spokesman Lt. Joey Smith says a man and an 8-year-old girl were in the plane that crashed around 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Stockbridge, Georgia. He says the man, who is in his 40s, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.

Smith says the girl was flown to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, but did not disclose which location. He did not know the destination of the plane or where it was traveling from.

The names of the victims have not been released.

Smith says the Federal Aviation Authority and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
