Top Ranked Alabama Will Try to Roll Up Big Numbers Against Another Top Ten Team
Top ranked Alabama has scored 48 or more points in beating four ranked teams this season, including Saturday’s 49-10 victory over 9th ranked Tennessee.
This weekend they’ll try to duplicate those crazy numbers again with a top ten showdown against Texas A&M.
Nick Saban says his team approached playing their most complete game of the year against Tennessee. But of course, there’s always room for improvement.
Said Saban:”Do you rest on your laurels or do you stay hungry to try to improve. Build on the things that you did correctly and fix the ones you didn’t.”
After their 49-10 win over the Vols, some have called this year’s Bama team the best Saban has had.
Said a sarcastic Saban:”Well first off, I don’t know what the outside talk is. And most of you create it, whatever it is. I think you know how much I really respect all of you and your opinions about what you think. Very high. I put it way up there.”
Since 2010, Bama is 23-6 against top ten teams. They host 6th ranked Texas A&M on Saturday.
Said defensive lineman Dalvin Tomlinson:”Around here yes, it’s just another game. Just execute and prepare for it just like it’s the next game like it is.”
Said Damien Harris:”You learn quick around here that every team is going to give you their best shot. Every team is going to give you the best they have. Just got to be able to adjust to it.”
Defensively, the Tide lead the SEC in sacks and rushing defense. And they’ve scored 8 defensive touchdowns.
Said Saban:”Defensively, we probably are a little more athletic and have a little more speed on the field. I think that helps us a little bit in loose play situations, which when you play these spread type teams, that’s the kind of plays they run.”
Now Alabama is running an up-tempo spread offense, and they’re averaging 45-points a game.”
Reporter: “Have you enjoyed playing a little more fast ball with these guys?”
Saban: “Yeah, I like playing fast ball when we’ve got the ball.” (laughter)
Bama and Texas A&M kick at 3:30pm on Saturday, and the game will be televised on News 12 Now.
