Tennessee Motorists Can Legally Transport Loaded Weapons
CHATTANOOGA, TN (WDEF-TV) – In Tennessee you can now keep a loaded weapon in your personal vehicle—even if you don’t have a carry permit.
That law became effective on July 1st.
It’s the last in a series of gun laws passed by the General Assembly.
The reasoning for this one is that if you can legally keep loaded weapons in your home…you should also be able to do so in your vehicle.
We got a variety of responses when we took that question to the public.

Phillip Strang, Lookout Mountain, TN "I don’t know, I think if anything they should make the law stricter."
Shopper, St. Elmo "That’s going to cause a lot of problems, people get angry and take their gun out and shoot you for no reason at all."
Barry Cammon, Lookout Mt. TN. ".. they don’t have to think about it..just pick it up and go, that’s crazy."
Becca Pouliot "Bad people are going to carry guns no matter what the law is."
That bill received strong support from the National Rifle Association.
