Low water exposes debris in northern Alabama rivers, lakes

FLORENCE, Ala. (AP) – Low water and the drought are creating dangerous areas for boaters on lakes and rivers in northern Alabama.

WAAY-TV reports  debris that is normally underwater is now exposed in the Tennessee River.

Alabama Marine Police and the Lauderdale County Emergency Management Agency in the Shoals are warning boaters to be aware of debris and rock piles.

Lauderdale County Emergency Management Agency Director, George Grabryan, says boats can be damaged by debris, seen or unseen.
