Company responds to another sick worker at Mills Products

ATHENS, Tennessee (WDEF) – Another employee was sent to the hospital this morning at Mills Products in Athens.

Yesterday, 17 workers went to the hospital after becoming sick.

Fire & Haz Mat crews swept the building but could not find any source that could have caused the illnesses.

They came back after the new sickness on Thursday, but again, could find no cause.

The plant remains open today.

Fire officials described today’s victim as having the same type of symptoms, but the company is not convinced it is connected.

Here is their statement on the incident on Thursday.

“Mills Products had to send another employee to the hospital this morning that was feeling ill. We
believe this to be an unrelated sickness from the situation yesterday. As a precautionary measure we
had the Athens Fire Department and Athens Utility Board sweep the plant for natural gas and carbon
monoxide. The plant was determined to have no issues. We have checked all equipment and found no
issues.
All employees transported yesterday to the hospital were released yesterday.”
