Bradley Central Girls Basketball Team Riding High at 25-0

The Bradley Central girls basketball team has been dynamite this season.
They’re undefeated and ranked second in the state.
The Bearettes feature a tenacious defense, spearheaded by one of the top high school players in the nation.
Bradley Central was pretty tough last season going 32-4, but they lost in the state semifinals 38-31. So head coach Jason Reuter says the Bearettes have unfinished business this season.
Said Reuter:”Our loss last year in the semifinals of the state of Tennessee has been a very motivating factor. We don’t feel like we played our best basketball.”
Reuter’s team is playing good basketball right now. They’re 25-0, and all but two of their victories have been by double digits.
Said Reuter:”After the Greeneville tournament, after we beat Oak Ridge in the finals by 31, that’s probably as a coach when I said, our goal is to win the state, but that’s when I probably elevated our chances even more.”
The Bearettes not only want to make a run for the state title, but an undefeated season as well.
Said guard Rhyne Howard:”It wasn’t our goal, but after the first couple of games we started winning. We knew that we should be able to. There was a high chance of us going undefeated.”
Defense has been the difference for Bradley Central.
Against East Hamilton, they had 19 steals.
Said guard Kimia Carter:”You can see them get really angry. They’re like. They start yelling at each other. That’s what we want to do. We want to break them down and make them have inner problems, and we’ve been doing that all season.”
Coach Reuter likes having the ball in the hands of junior star Rhyne Howard, who Reuter likens to Magic Johnson.
Said Reuter:”She is what I call the ultimate all-around player. Plays defense. Lead our team in rebounds. Leads our team in blocks. Leads our team in steals. She is a complete player. That’s why everybody in the country wants her.”
