NW Whitfield Girls End Region Tournament Title Drought With Victory Over Heritage

Dalton, GA-(WDEF) The Northwest Whitfield girls beat Heritage 72-49 in the finals of the Region 6-AAAA tournament on Friday night at Southeast Whitfield high school.
The Lady Bruins led 31-19 at the half, and they basically put the game away with a dominate third quarter.
Holly Heath hit a corner three with three minutes left in the third quarter to push the lead to 21 points.
The Lady Bruins were up 52-27 going to the final period.
Bria Clemmons led NW Whitfield with 21 points as they finally celebrated a region title.
Said head coach Greg Brown:”Well we have been the region runner-up four years in-a-row. When you have been runner-up that many times, you get excited when you finally win one. I’m just happy for my kids. Lot of people thought this would be a rebuilding year for us. And here we are 21-5 region champs. Kids just dung in and played really, really hard. I couldn’t be more proud of them.”
