Gas Prices continue to drop, especially in Dunlap

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Gas prices continue to drift downward in the Chattanooga area.

The average price dropped by about half a penny to $1.98 last week in the GasBuddy.com survey.

But don’t get used to it.

The national average actually went up 1.4 cents last week.

“The era of falling gasoline prices will likely be coming to an end soon at a gas station near you,” said Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy.com.

“Not to say declines are completely done, but over the next few weeks we’ll likely see more times when stations are raising their prices then dropping them, thanks to gasoline demand that will soon begin recovering and crude oil imports that will soon reflect OPEC’s lower output.”

“The national average typically rises 35-65 cents from its low price, usually in February, through Memorial Day, and there’s no reason to believe the same won’t happen this year, so buckle up,” he said.

The lowest gas prices in Chattanooga right now are $1.91 according to the survey, and you can find them all over town.

Signal Mtn Road, Lookout Valley, Hixson, Ooltewah, Sam’s Club and even a Mapco at 3rd and Holtzclaw.

You can find $1.89 prices at several stations around Cleveland.

But the cheapest of all is $1.88 at several stations in Dunlap.

And even Dalton has one sub-$2.00 price… $1.99 at Smile Fuels at Glenwood & Hawthorne.
