Chattanooga K-9 officer named local hero by Chamber of Commerce

Red Bank, Tenn. (WDEF) — A K-9 officer from the Chattanooga police department has been named a local “hero” at a noon luncheon today.

The Red Bank Council of the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce hosts the “Local Heroes” every February.

Members of police department, firefighters and emergency medical services agencies who serve Red Bank, West Hamilton County, North Chattanooga and Signal Mountain were recognized for their exceptional service.

K-9 officer Steven Meador was praised for his actions in saving the life of a person who was attempting suicide.

“It really motivates you but we’re not here for awards,we’re not here for anything else. A little recognition goes a long way but it’s just what we do everyday,” Officer Meador said.

The organization also recognized other first responders for their actions on behalf of the community.
