Chattooga County deals with multiple school threats
SUMMERVILLE, Georgia (WDEF) – Both the Chattooga County and Trion City schools have had to deal with school threats this week.
On Thursday morning, a threatening message was written in the mortar of a wall in the boys’ restroom at Trion High.
It was written in pencil in very small lettering.
Police determined that “there was no immediate threat,” but officers remained at the school.
They are investigating who wrote it.
The Sheriff’s Office arrested a 16 year old for a threat at Chattooga County High on Tuesday.
The threat involved shooting up a school today.
Investigators believe the suspect created the message alone, in an attempt to get out of school early.
And finally, a first grader picked a bad time to show off his new toy to a classmate.
The student brought a toy gun to his Elementary school to trade.
Administrators were alarmed, considering the threats at the high schools.
But sheriff’s deputy says the gun was obviously a toy and no threats were made.
The Chattooga School Board will meet in a specially called session Friday morning at 10 AM to discuss school safety.
