Arrest in McMinn stabbing death

ATHENS, Tennessee (WDEF) – A domestic fight in McMinn County left a 55 year old man stabbed to death.

It happened at a home on County Road 162 near Niota around 10:30 Monday night.

Officers found Raymond D. McDermott dead at the scene from a stab wound.

Witnesses say he was involved in a fight with his stepson, Jules O. Moore.

“It appears that the altercation turned violent,” said Sheriff Joe Guy, “ Mr. McDermott sustained two stab wounds and died as a result if his injuries”.

The 33 year old Moore faces a charge of 2nd Degree Murder.
