Brooke Parrott throws fifth perfect game in Chattanooga history
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (UTC Athletics) – Brooke Parrott etched herself into the record books at Frost Stadium on Saturday afternoon against Radford. The junior starter tossed seven perfect innings en route to throwing the team’s first perfect game since 2002 and fifth ever in the history of Chattanooga Softball.
The The Mocs defeated Radford 4-0 before falling in the final game of the day to Tennessee Tech, 4-1.
UTC moves to 3-5 this season, Radford dropped to 4-5 and Tennessee Tech improved to 6-2.
The Mocs return to the diamond for day three of the Chattanooga Challenge against SIUE and Purdue Fort Wayne. First pitch against SIUE is slated for 11 a.m. at Frost Stadium.
GAME 1 RECAP
The Chattanooga offense got on the board in the third with an Emily Coltharp double down the left field line. The Mocs added another in the fifth with a Liz Rodebaugh double into left.
In the bottom of the sixth, the UTC doubled its lead with a Kailey Snell single to center which drove in Reagan Armour and Skylar Berkhiser.
Parrott was lights out from start to finish. The Mocs’ starter threw three balls in an at bat just three times throughout the game. She struck out four enroute to the Mocs’ 13th no hitter in program history. It took the Harrison, Tenn. native just 78 pitches to get through the 21 batters. Of those 78 pitches, 72% (56) were strikes.
Snell and Rodebaugh both went 2-for-3. Olivia Lipari, Kailey Phillips, Armour and Coltharp also recorded hits.

Notable:
• Parrott’s perfect game is the first for a Moc since Beth Alexander was perfect against Furman on April 7, 2002. It’s the first no hitter for a UTC pitcher since May 8, 2010 vs. the College of Charleston.
• In four starts this season, she has allowed one or fewer hits twice.
• UTC’s offense struck out just twice in the contest. It is the fewest K’s for the Chattanooga offense this season and the first time since May 13, 2021 against Mercer.
GAME 2 RECAP
The first three runs of the game all came across in the third inning. Tennessee Tech got on the board with a single by Haeli Bryson. Later in the inning, Bryson scored on a single off the bat of Carmen Betts.
UTC got on the board in the bottom of the third with a two-out RBI double off the bat of Emily Coltharp. Tennessee Tech doubled its lead with an RBI double to center in the sixth and later extended its lead with a grounder to short.
Izzy Alley got the start in the circle for UTC and allowed two earned and two unearned runs on four hits with a career-best six strikeouts in 5.1 innings of action.
