Golden Apple Award: Delin Brown at Fairlyand Elementary

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, GA (WDEF) – In 20 years, Delin Brown has become an institution at Fairyland Elementary. She cultivates a life long love of learning in her gifted students and oversees the aftercare program. Kids in her class and in her care, love her.

Jeremy Roerdink is the Principal at Fairyland.

He says, “Here’s what I can tell you about Miss Brown, she is an amazing teacher. She works hard with our students. Many days are long days that she works. She works on her aftercare program. She’s organized. She has excellent relationships with students, with parents. She’s been a fixture in this community for a long time, and we are blessed and thankful to have her.”

When asked to describe herself, Ms. Brown says, “Well, I’m a 28 year educator, a parent, a member of the community. I’ve been here at this school for 20 years. I love making relationships with students and parents, being a part of their lives and fostering fostering those relationships.”

She continues, “I hope they’ll always have a love of learning. I hope they’ll always be strong thinkers. I hope they remember just being part of a community of people and know how special that is and carry that with them wherever they go.”
