Jeremy Pruitt Leads Big Orange Caravan Tour to Chattanooga
Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) The Big Orange Caravan tour kicked off in Chattanooga on Thursday. New Vols football coach Jeremy Pruitt was in attendance along with athletic director Phil Fulmer. Pruitt has a lot of work to do after UT’s 4-8 season last year, but he and Fulmer both believe the good times will return to Rocky Top.
Jeremy Pruitt has only been on the job six months, but he believes he took one small step this spring to make Tennessee great again.
Said Pruitt:”I think we have figured out how to practice this spring, so moving forward I think we’ll understand that. So the first day we go out there in fall camp, we’ll probably improve as a football team.”
Said Fulmer:”One thing I do know. We know how to practice. We know what it’s supposed to look like. We were better at the end of spring than we were at the beginning.”
Pruitt says this fall’s team will look totally different from the one that finished spring drills.
Said Pruitt:”The guys who participated in the Orange and White game. You count the signees. You count the guys that were injured. There could be anywhere between 27 and 30 guys who didn’t participate in the Orange and White game that will be there in the fall.”
Fulmer says he has even more confidence now that Pruitt is the right man for the job, but he doesn’t want to burden Pruitt with a time table to turn things around.
Said Fulmer:”Jeremy is starting in a place that we’ve never been before. He has a long way to go. When I took over, we were kind of here and went to there. He’s down here somewhere with a long way to go, so patience. I’m preaching patience to some degree. I’m going to tell you this. He has challenged everybody, and I love it. I think that’s exactly the way we’ve got to go about our business.”
