Deaf Awareness Competitor at Ironman Chattanooga
CHATTANOOGA, TN, (WDEF)- Casey Davis a former Erlanger Physician Assistant and the founder of DeafHealth.org will compete this Sunday.
His non profit organization directly supports the deaf community.
Davis says his studies show more than half of deaf patients fail to alert physicians of heart conditions.
He’s raising money and awareness for the cause and says he is just 2000 dollars away from his target of 20000.
"Because of the differences between American and English sign language the deaf community has no internet resource other than deaf health to learn about things like high blood pressure, diabetes and we thought it was very important to create a health education website that provides them this information in their primary and preferred language." he added.
The website provides videos, medial tips and support for the 1 million deaf or hearing impaired Americans.
