New Catoosa County Park Features Civil War Theme

Joseph T. McConnell Park was named after a local civil hero..
It includes a picnic pavilion, a playground, and a performing arts stage.
It was built as a civil war theme to encourage more tourism to it’s neighboring Stone Church Museum.
Commissioner Dewayne Hill says he hopes the park put more focus on families.
"By having a park like this…it brings the families closer together because they have a place now they can bring their children safely to play…it’s fenced entirely around the facility here.  We have a nice picnic area so they can have their picnics and it’s just a good family thing to do," said Hill.
The park cost around $250,000 to build.
It was paid for by donations and from one percent of County sales tax.
