Orr pleads guilty to murder of mother of 4 in double shooting

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Robert Orr pleaded guilty in court on Monday to the murder of a woman more than three years ago.

In January of 2019, Orr was at the home of Jimmy Moore on West Main Street Court. Bernice Williams was asleep on the couch. Prosecutors say Moore asked him to leave. But instead, he locked the door and shot Moore twice. Moore was able to crawl from the room. But he said he saw Orr shoot the woman on the couch several times.

She died from her injuries a few days later. Williams was the mother of four children.

Police say Orr fled to Jasper after the shooting but was later captured in a Hamilton County motel. In the plea deal, Orr was sentenced to 25 years in prison to be served at 100%. He would be 56 when he gets out of prison.
