Palestinians angry about the move are holding new protests on the Gaza-Israel border.

Israeli troops killed at least three dozen protesters.

Palestinians have been demonstrating for weeks, saying the U.S. is no longer a partner in the peace process.

In excerpts of his speech released by the White House, President Trump’s senior adviser Jared Kushner was expected to address the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

“We believe it is possible for both sides to gain more than they give – so that all people can live in peace – safe from danger, free from fear, and able to pursue their dreams,” Kushner, Mr. Trump’s son-in-law, was expected to say. “Jerusalem must remain a city that brings people of all faiths together.”

For Mr. Trump, it’s a proud moment and the fulfillment of a promise.

His daughter Ivanka Trump and Kushner, her husband, are representing the president at Monday’s ceremony.
